Another alternative would be to take the Piccadilly to Kings Cross,
and then either the Northern or Victoria line one stop to Euston (from
memory I think the Northern line would be the easier one to change to

I've been to the Piccadilly platforms at King's Cross St. Pancras, and
I think there are a lot of stairs...
