Yes, Woolwich Manor Way, Connaught Bridge, and Silver Town Way are all
within the proposed new PSZ for London City. The safety zone is a
triangular area at both ends of a runway that starts off being about
three times the width of the runway and gradually tapers to a point
about a mile away (the distance depending on the type of aircraft used).
In many cases, much of the zone is within the perimeter of the airport
(or over water, in the case of London City), but the tip may extend into
surrounding areas. The Department for the Environment specifies that
there should not be new residential or office buildings in the area (and
owners of existing premises have to be given the offer of compulsory
purchase if they wish to move) but it permits things like roads (except
motorways), car parks, golf courses, allotments and warehouses
(providing that are not intensively used).
