Is there even a concept of "contactless debit card"?
Yes, issued by Barclays.

Are there actually places where you can use them contactlessly?

I'd assume the same places as the credit cards, if they have the same
Paywave logo.

All mine does is interfere with my Oyster card. It would have been
nice if Barclays had warned of this.

My Paywave Visa Credit card combined with Oyster doesn't interfere with
each other (almost by definition).

My "Oyster" is actually a Freedom Pass, so that option isn't available
to me, even if I wanted it.
