I know the name of the rail company taking over ALL train services from
Liverpoool Street today is "One". [www.onerailway.com]
BUT - Was my friend winding me up today (1/1/04) when he said the tannoy
announcement he heard this morning at London LS, instead of being "the
0730
First Great Eastern service to ....." was changed to "the 0730 'One'
service
to ....." ?!!
So to Passengers on the platform, this would have sounded like the
"OH-SEVEN-THIRTY-ONE service to....."
Did anyone miss the train by a minute?
What about another scenario:
"The train on platform (tannoy goes crackly) is the 11:42 ONE sevice
to Liverpool Street" (passengers who are only half listening make
their way to platform one, and miss the train.)
What a ****ing stupid name for a TOC.
