Last train cancellation duty of care
I was talking to a friend, yesterday evening.
He reported a couple of recent occasions in which train cancellations
meant he was unable to get home by train.
On a weekday, he intended to travel between Wimbledon (WIM) and Banstead
(BAD), via Sutton (SUO).
The last connecting train from Wimbledon at 2249, operated by First
Capital Connect, was cancelled. He was therefore unable to catch the
2327 from SUO to BAD, operated by Southern.
He was refused provision of a taxi as WIM is operated by South West
Trains (SWT).
Was the staff member correct?
Where are the rules documented?
Would the rules be different for travelling with Oyster or a Freedom
Pass?
