The Tube Strike - Last weapon for the average working guy?

So I arrive from Kings Cross (infinite ticket queues) and travel to
Westminster. It's the first time I've used Oyster since before last October
when I renewed my railcard. I realise when I touch out that I have forgotten
to register the new railcard on the Oyster. Now i go to the ticket office at
Westminster and cut it fine getting to my meeting. What happens in future?
speculation
You send off the Oyster and Railcard to whatever mail order operation
does the "loading", in plenty of time. Or possibly, you get issued the
Railcard, when next renewed. on a photo-Oyster blank (similar to several
other concessionary Oysters), which can only be done either by mail
order or at National Rail station in Central London.
If you think that's all a bit of a faff. I have news for you - TfL
doesn't care. Look at the procedure for getting an 18+ Student Oyster if
you don't believe me.
