On a similar note - how far down the piccadilly line towards heathrow can
surface stock venture?
Hounslow Central; assuming S stock has now been cleared past
Northfields.
How would they clear it - is it all done in a computer sim or would they
actually drag a train down there at night to see if it bumped the scenery?
I suspect a tube gauge train with polystyrene bits stuck on the corners
and centres to make it simulate the size of an S-stock will have gone
first, but because trains swing as they move in a way which depends on
the suspension, weight distribution and speed, there is no substitute
for a real train travelling at real speeds, but I imagine they use sacks
of stuff to represent the weight of people.
