I see quite a number alighting at Salisbury station, enough that the
tourist tour bus to Stonehenge departs from the station as well the
city center.

ferry services .

Yes, good examples. No SDO needed at those stations, though.

I wonder how many foreigners with poor English use the smaller stations
with short platforms where SDO is used, or whole carriages aren't
platformed?
