The ORR found
weaknesses in their approach to managing the platform / train
interface (PTI) when set against what LU typically does.
Is that not because LU basically leads the world on PTI, so anyone else
would be weaker? According to one report, when the ORR asked what SNCF
was doing in the PTI area, they found it doesn't do anything at all, not
even collecting statistics.
I honestly don't know if LU are a world leader or not. I can't recall
ever seeing or hearing about international practice / comparators.
There was a report out about a year or so ago. IIRC they found LU was
recording exactly which door and exact section of platform people were
falling over, National Rail which platform, and abroad just thought
people shouldn't fall over. One issue was that smaller steps are better
for accessibility, but actually (within certain limits) increase trips
compared to bigger steps. IIRC there were also slightly un-PC findings
about age and footwear.
