Why has the next day collection now gone out to the day after next?
I tried getting an online top-up about 23:30 this evening and it
only offers it for collection on 3rd August!
There is a cutoff time of (I think) 23:00 for next day collection.
Oh! Not found that before. Oh well, I'll have to find a ticket machine
today. I only need an extra 5p to make all my planned journeys today.
You can go into the red on Oyster.
Good point which only occurred to me later. When I got to Kew Gardens I had
time to use the ticket machine with no-one else around to top up. The
mystery is why I was charged an off-peak fare on the way back so I needn't
have bothered. I will know more in the morning.
Journeys into zone 1 in the evening peak period (1600-1900) are charged
as off-peak - this has been the case for several years on the Tube (and
other TfL tariff journeys), and was introduced more recently for NR
tariff journeys.
