Default What to see on the tube

I've certainly seen CT1 from the window going to CT3, but I don't
offhand recall when - I *thought* it was on a CX train. The geometry
also made me think I'd see CT3 when going to CT1.

You wouldn't see CT3 if going into CT1 from the CX branch, because the
Edgware CX branch comes out almost at CT1 - past the junction to CT3.

I've now had a chance to check out both Bank to CT3 and Bank to CT1.

On a Bank to High Barnet train, looking out of the left hand side
window, I saw a CX to Edgware train; the angle it was at makes me pretty
sure that that's where you would see CT1. And see below.

On a Bank to Edgware train, looking out of the right hand side window,
there was a brief flash of light which was clearly some part of CT3,
though whether the platform or the outside wall is uncertain.

From the CX Barnet branch, CT1 can be seen straight ahead from the cab

I'm sure it will also be visible from the body of the train.

(before the diversion, this used to be the original route to CT1).

I hadn't realized this before you posted, but this morning's hassle
means I found myself right at the back of CT1. So I took the opportunity
to take a longer look. What you've got is:

To CT3

\\
CT1 \\--
##### \ ----
-------*------------------- \ ----
---- ---- \ ----
--\ --\\ ---- NB Barnet
\ \\

NB Edgware NB City

The NB Barnet is the original Charing Cross, Euston, and Hampstead line.
The NB City and NB Edgware (which branches off the NB Barnet) were built
when the City and South London was extended from Euston to Camden Town.

A proper look at the various published diagrams would have made this
clear, but I had always assumed that the CX branch had been left
untouched by the extension. Silly me.

The
route to CT3 goes off to the right. It may be possible to see a bit of CT1
if looking out of the window at a certain angle.

It is. You can see the sides of trains to CT3 (both routes) quite easily
from the end of CT1.
