In the latest WTT that I have, September 2002, Platform 1 remains in use
for all District trains, and is not closed early at all.

I'm sure it's been in action for the last couple of years right until
the end of service.

Why would it be beneficial to close Platform 1 earlier - would it be for
cleaning or maintenance access?

On the subject of platforms closing at night, does anyone have details
as to quite when in the evening the London-bound side at Epsom station
closes (and the trains after that wrong-rail)?
