Hello,
Hopefully somebody here can shed some light on this. Earlier this
evening I was on a northbound Northern Line train, wanting to get off
at
Golders Green as normal. When the train pulled into the platform,
there
was a very brief "beep", but the doors didn't open. After a minute or
so
(the amount of time the doors would normally be open) the recorded
voice
saying the train was leaving came on, and the train pulled away.

Is that a situation to push the emergency stop button?
It could be. The problem is that in virtually all circumstances, the
subsequent delay caused (investigation as to why button pressed,
contacting Line Controller, waiting for station staff to turn up, possibly
setting the train back if it has been stopped too far out of the platform,
etc.) it would be quicker for the passengers for the train to continue to
the next station. In fact, this might be what the driver would be
authorised to do anyway. However, it should be reported at the earliest
opportunity - make a note of the car no., train no, time, location etc.
