I didn't say the competition should be cancelled. I was pointing out that
the reason of "It's been done before" is flaky.

Perhaps CJG was pondering that there were more important questions to be
answered before the "best bus route" one.

Having an award to recognise good service can help staff morale;
passengers can think about how they define a good service and TfL get an
idea of what passenger's priorities are.

Yes, all perfectly valid and I would agree.

Yes, you could achieve the latter two with a boring old survey - but why
not have a bit of fun and give an award at the same time.

But, just going back to part of my original post, there is a major problems
with vandalism on buses in south London and the surrounding areas. Someone
needs to get on top of this. IMO, this is a much more important issue than
finding out what the "best" bus route is. I appreciate you may not agree.
