Given that spitting on minor officials is not a traditional British habit,
and that spitting is an efficiect way of spreading antibiotic resistant TB
it's quite a serious matter. In fact, TB was the reason that spitting in the
street was made illegal decades ago, let alone spitting on people.

However "minor officials" ****ting on the British public unfortunately is. If
LU put their staff through a few more customer care courses, and waived bye-bye
to those that didn't come up to scratch, they might save quite a lot of money
and also distress for dedicated staff who are trying to do the job that others
they have to work with clearly can't.
