An Israeli company has proposed cooling down sweltering London Underground
platforms by placing snow-making machines above ground.

IDE Technologies Ltd, which develops desalination plants, said on Monday it
had submitted the plan as part of a contest announced by London Mayor Ken
Livingstone last month inviting proposals to help commuters beat the heat.
