I noticed today that they've redesigned the Met line diagrams to try
and show (for the first time?) the way the service actually works -
i.e. a loop between Finchley Rd and Wembley Park (marked 'Fast and
semi-fast trains) and effectively 3 separate lines after Harrow (the
Uxbridge branch, then one with all the stops marked to Watford, then
the Amersham/Chesham branch with only the relevant stops shown). It
looks a little bit messy but probably makes more sense...
Isn't there still a extra-semi-fast Amersham service that stops at one set
of intermediate stations missed by the fast service but not the other?
Not any more - all Amersham services became fast (as opposed to
semi-fast) a few years ago.
(Well, there might still be one a day or something, just to stop the
Moor Park (slow) - Rickmansworth lines getting rusty)
Incidentally, the District has had new line diagrams recently too. For
some reason Ealing Broadway is marked "Trains to Heathrow" - but no
mention of the (far cheaper and more frequent) trains to Heathrow from
Acton Town. Oh well.
