transport truck & bus says...
Drivers are complaining that their real-world fuel economy doesn't
match up with the official estimate given by the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA)...
So why doesn't the car or truck you drive to and from work every day
get the same fuel economy the government, the manufacturer, and us
trusted legions of automotive journalists seem to promise it will?...
I know, it's a sod isn't it? I've yet to get less than 10% MORE than
the official figure for any car I've owned.
The problem is with the figures is that the testing is done by people
who actually have a partial clue how to drive economically.
Nothing to do with economic driving. The test is performed on a rolling road
in a laboratory with no wind resistance. The tester uses the gears and
accelerator to follow a line displayed on a VDU. Not reality at all.
