Make fun of it if you like, but it is a serious issue. I have seen
people seriously injured trying to get on/off away from stops. I
don't want the hassle, thanks. Is it really worth it to save walking
a few yards..?

Once upon a time people were responsible for their own safety, before
Nanny State intervened. :-(
