Not according to this here "Your Guide to Oyster" leaflet. You need
a longer than 7 Day Travel Card to avoid the deposit.

In order to encourage take up I understand the deposit has been waived
for 7 day ticket holders. This has been in operation for months.

Pity the leaflet I collected when finally buying my Oystercard at King's
Cross (Met) on Thursday didn't say so!
