If you have a Travelcard season, unresolved journeys don't matter (as

National Rail between Ealing Broadway and Paddington.
How would it "know" that the endpoint was in my valid travelcard zones
(1-3 incidentally - I have some PAYG credit as well)?
When I said "endpoint" I meant the one that appears on your journey
history, i.e. the one the system knows about.
I could just as easily gone to a tube destination in zone 5 and failed
to touch out; isn't catching that possibility the point of the £4
charge?
I don't think (BICBW) that Travelcard users will receive the £4
charge, just like they don't receive the £1.00/£1.50/£5.00 charge
currently.
You could, for example, have legitimately travelled to Acton Main Line
or West Ealing, which presumably don't have validators or barriers. Or
you could have travelled to Slough on a paper extension ticket.
