Clarkson's books and columns amply demonstrate that he wouldn't
recognise genuine wit if it sat on his face. The fact that you're
engaging in such a spirited defence of such a ****-poor excuse for a
writer strongly suggests that neither, unfortunately, would you.
I actually doubt you've done any extensive reading of Clarkson's
writing given that you appear to hate him so much.
Clarkson's column in CAR 15ish years ago was far more entertaining than any
of his recent output - since he started to believe his own hype - and yet
still came a poor second to the other regular columnists (Bulgin,
Llewellyn, Bishop) and contributors (Cropley et al)
