Why would it need new substations on the AC section? Surely that has
enough capacity to cope already?
Oh, you are a laugh! Power supply is a major problem all the way from
King's Cross to King';s Lynn. FCC are hoping to benefit from a Network
Actually muppet , I was thinking of the current Thameslink line to
bedford, but feel free to keep smiling. Oh , but if the power supply is
such a major problem from Kings Cross how come those 140mph 6300 hp
class 91s manage to pull away from it then with a full length 225
train? Not to mention the large number of local services running at the
same time (some of which no doubt disappear once thameslink starts to
use the route).
Rail booster transformer upgrade between Royston and Shepreth Branch
Junction next year but there is still no feeder station North of Milton.
This makes it almost (but not quite) impossible to run 8-coach trains
North of Cambridge.

great mind such as yourself should know the power drawn depends on how
quickly you wish to accelerate and the gradiants on the line.
