Many people simply don't like walking, including many train staff!
We had plenty of turns that involved working into one London terminal,
making your own way to another and working from there. The TCS kept a
stock of Underground tickets for the purpose. When I declined one saying
that it was just as quick to walk (for example) from Cannon Street to
Blackfriars or Charing Cross to Holborn Viaduct they were astonished!
