When walking down to the Piccadilly platforms from the Victoria
ones, before the last flight of steps down to platform level, the
corridor continues behind a grated metal door. Does anyone know
what used to be down there?
Dragons!
Or, more accurately, the lift shaft from when Green Park was just a
little Piccadilly station, before the rebuild as a major
interchange.
It was rebuilt long before then. Dover Street got escalators in the 1930s
and became Green Park. The Victoria didn't arrive till over 30 years
later.
