A stock is not authorised to run on its own power anywhere on NR
infrastructure.
Does that mean it can't run on the Richmond and Wimbledon sections
of the District line?
Correct, though I'm not sure why you would want to. Clive's site[1]
notes various restrictions on the use of A stock on the District which
include a ban on the whole of the Wimbledon branch (not just the part
that was NR but is now owned by LU), and the whole of the Richmond
branch. One reason could be that A stock is wider than all other LU
stock (and I'm sure I read somewhere that it's wider than any NR
passenger stock).
