Default OT - world's crappest park

Barn Elms Park. It's about as wide as a road.

Which, in fact, it was. It was an entrance drive to Barn Elms House,
which burnt down in the 1950s. Barn Elms Park was the name for the
estate which occupied the area now known as Barn Elms Playing Fields and
School Sports Centre.

After the mansion was destroyed, there was no need for the long entrance
drive (there's alternative access from Rock's Lane), so Horne Way was
built across the north end, leaving the entrance drive as a curiously
detached appendage, retaining the original name of the 100+ acres of
open space that are still there. I'm surprised it was never sold for
development, as there is ample green space in the area - but its a
pleasant little oasis, even if a bit mean as parks go!
