The 207 started from Barnes Railway Hotel (later re-named The Red Rover,
now the junction of Roehampton Lane with the South Circular). Its
six-minute route simply went up Priory Lane then returned via Clarence
Lane and Roehampton Lane. It was apparently used mainly to take golfers
from Barnes railway station to Richmond Park Golf Club.

Do you mean Roehampton Club (which the route goes all the way round)?
There's a rugby club in that block too, but I'm not sure that was
there in 1928.

So when did the current 207 start? Tram replacement or Trolleybus?
