Default new ticket barriers at paddington

I wonder if there are any plans to accept Oyster PAYG on Heathrow

imagine similar treatment to Watford Junction where Travelcards are
concerned. I could envisage the Express premium being collected either
through separate platform validators, or on-train validators.

None whatsoever currently.
The line from Airport Junction to Heathrow is privately owned (by BAA)
and not part of the national rail network.

I cam through paddington late last night and they were installing new

which platforms they are).

FGW are currently looking at going live with these gates (and those on
the overbridge, once installed) in late April.
Extra Revenue staff will be in place by Easter, so the time spent
twixt then & going live will hopefully see them out roving around on
gateline blocks on their network, checking tickets.

There are major concerns over the overbridge gates coping with the
expected demand on them from customers. We'll see what happens.

The icing on the cake, so to speak, is that, once CrossRail gets Royal
Assent, the gateline (E for those in the know) will need relocating
for enabling works to be undertaken! This within a month or so of
their installation! Why they don't now just wait until they know where
they've got to be resited, I don't know. A complete waste of money.
