Came back,
swiped in but didnt swipe out because the barriers were not in us as they
are not when station not staffed. I might be old but I dont come home for
********* tea, do I !!!
SWMBO thinks my card and therefore council will be overcharged, will it?
Assuming you have a Freedom Pass, then no:
"Usage of TfL services is measured by surveys on buses and trams,
using gate
data on the Underground and infrared counters on the DLR. These usage
figures
are then reduced by a “generation factor” which attempts to eliminate
the fact
that not all the journeys made by freedom pass holders would have been
if they
had to pay for the journey. The discounted number of journeys is then
multiplied
by an average cash fare paid, once again discounted to reflect the
fact that
freedom pass users would have selected a different basket of fares
than the
average traveller had they been paying for the journeys."

Ergo, how touch in or out with your card makes no difference to how
the council is charged. You might actually be saving them money.
Also, the Freedom Pass instructions only mention having to touch in or
out when you encounter gates.
