A few posts here and elsewhere have suggested the economic crisis will lead
to Crossrail (and other big projects) being cancelled or deferred.
Todays Telegraph suggests not - "Alistair Darling will spend his way out of
recession"
"Mr Darling singled out housing, energy and small businesses as areas which
would benefit from a "reprioritising" of government spending plans. He also
signalled that proposals for two new aircraft carriers and a replacement for
the Trident nuclear deterrent would go ahead, as well as London's £16
billion Crossrail project and the 2012 Olympic games, for which the budget
is £9.3 billion."
