Once the maintenance costs start to spiral because its such a niche product it'll soon go the same was as the birmingham maglev. I think the poor ride quality will result in many complaints. I can think of a few in uk.railway that won't be able to cope with the seats not lining up with the windows. Also not being able to reserve seats that face forward or back. Will there be onboard catering at all? Only if BAA allow burger vans in the car parks. Unlikely. :-( |

It is probably just a gimmick that will soon be forgotten. The frightening thing is, BAA intends to use this system to access the central area (T1,2,3) with the bugs whizzing past each other at two levels in the taxi tunnel, which will be converted for the purpose with an intermediate deck! Pie in the sky. |

I can easily see "glitches" coming to late and "safety" issues arising, to say nothing of what is going to happen on the first days of service. I do hope that they can eventually get something going, though I imagine that a wait-and-see approach would be the best thing at this moment. |

There has been a testing programme going on off-site for the last couple of years. But if you were going to apply a virtually untried technology to its first, full scale practical application, I think Heathrow Airport is the last place on earth you should choose, |
