East London Line 'trial service'
In his blog today, Dave Hill tries to explain the ELL trial service that
should start in early April. He seems to get his description of the initial service a bit wrong, in that he has an 8 tph service from Dalston Junction to New Cross Gate, with 4 then carrying on to New Cross ??? but more interestingly he mentions an early 4 tph service to Crystal Palace, with the West Croydon branch being added later (at the timetable change) in May. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/davehil...-of-prosperity Has anyone heard any more about the service intentions? Is it possible to feed 4 tph to Crystal Palace within the existing SN timetable - obviously the actual times don't have to be the same as those intended in May, but this hasn't been predicted anywhere else TTBOMK. BTW, he also suggests a look at London Reconnections, which has a couple of recent sets of ELL station and depot pictures. Recommended viewing... Paul S |

Me thinks Mr Hill might need to take a glance at a map! FWIW during the Thames Tunnel tour, the gent "from London Overground" accompanying our group (who was probably actually from TfL London Rail) hinted heavily that there would be a trial service before the May TT change - though of course that isn't really news. Has anyone heard any more about the service intentions? *Is it possible to feed 4 tph to Crystal Palace within the existing SN timetable - obviously the actual times don't have to be the same as those intended in May, but this hasn't been predicted anywhere else TTBOMK. Interesting - first time I've heard that. Er, as to whether it would fit in with the existing timetable... pass! East London Line 'trial service'
I don't remember Crystal Palace being mentioned yesterday when the
trial service was discussed, and its certainly something that would have pricked my ears. Doesn't mean it wasn't said though of course - might have been while I was distracted by all the shiny pretty trains... |

Also, amusingly, just realised I'm in that photo he's running at the
head of the article. |

What's the depot called - Newer Cross? -- We are the Strasbourg. Referendum is futile. |

Incidentally, they were already running trains up to Dalston on Sunday 7th March - not sure how far south they went. They had a power cut and two trains got stranded at Dalston. -- We are the Strasbourg. Referendum is futile. |

They have been running a 4 tph pseudo timetable between Dalston Junction, New Cross and New Cross Gate since at least mid January, and to Crystal Palace since very shortly after that - early Feb IIRC?
