He also links to BBC London's transport correspondent Tom Edwards and a piece about the scheme (one of many) on his Mind The Gap blog, replete with embedded videos (and interviews) etc - haven't watched any of them yet, but the freeze-frame on the first video appears to show a hire bike recirculator arrangement with traction provided by a tractor type arrangement as favoured by park keepers (or at least 'council park chiefs'). I spotted one of these in the wild on Friday evening, on Great Portland Street: http://www.flickr.com/photos/teflon/4893603796/ Chatting to the guys unloading bikes from it, it seems that the Ford Focuses may be a stop-gap measure until they can get more of the electric vans delivered. |

That figures. I saw one of those in Bellgrove St. -- Colin Rosenstiel- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Bit of a rip off for some on Sundays when all docking stations are full. Saw one guy on a 30 min. free hire trying to find an empty station at Compton St. All stations were full. He was then directed to Soho Sq. where all the stations were full again. I don't know where he ended up returning his hire, but by then he'd have been well into charging time and well away from his intended destination. CJB. |

That figures. I saw one of those in Bellgrove St. Talking of which I noticed the Bellgrove station empty of bikes when I passed at 10:10 this morning. First time I've passed and it's had none at all. The web site has three cycles and 18 spaces there now. So they seem to have got the right total now. -- Colin Rosenstiel |
