Four-car North London Line
Not sure when four-car service started on the North London Line, but
spotted two 378/2 units on Tuesday this week. One was 378210 which I presume had a fourth car added after a year or so as a three-car, and 378226 which was built as four-car from new. http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index..._Centra l.JPG http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index..._Stratford.JPG |

... Not sure when four-car service started on the North London Line... 14th Sept, with two units. Numbers have gradually increased as more 4th cars are added, but from what I can work out they are only doing a couple at a time at Derby. There were suggestions a while ago that the bulk of the 4th carriage insertion would be done at Ashford, but that doesn't appear to have happened. Paul S |
It appears that the special 313 final service on the North London Line has now been cancelled. This is because there will no longer be a 313 unit available to run the service. On a more positive note, it appears that four-car 378s will likely begin to make an appearance on the NLL from next week onwards. Sources indicate that two sets will probably enter service on Tuesday, with more to follow as the arrive from Derby. Finally, for those whose memories stretch even further back than the 313s, Greg Tingey kindly sent us a photo of a 4-SUB unit and a BR 1950's slam-door set at Broad Street.

Yes, that was the expectation on Sept 10th, when it appeared on London Reconnections. But it is history now... Paul S |
