Buying Oyster travelcards at NR stations

Is it possible for an Oyster travelcard to have arbitrary start/finish
dates, or are they limited to one week or one calendar month? And if
they can, can you buy them at ticket machines in NR stations?

'Odd period' Travelcards of between one month and 40 weeks continue to be
available (including on Oyster), though there's scant information about them
these days - if it's for more than 40 weeks then you'll get an annual Gold
Card instead (as they give 52 weeks for the price of 40).

Odd period Travelcards can only be bought at station ticket offices -
they're not available from any self-service ticket machines (be they Tube or
or NR flavours), nor alas are they available for purchase from Oyster
online. For an odd period Travelcard on Oyster, you'd need an NR ticket
office that handles Oyster products - many don't, of course - even then, I'm
afraid I wouldn't be terribly surprised to discover that they might struggle
a bit with such a request (maybe that's unfair - I've never tried it). Best
bet might be to head for a Tube station ticket office - make sure it's open,
mind!

Here's some info - look for "Odd period Travelcard" on page 5:
