distance people had to walk from West Ham Station. No attempt to quantify the problems which caused TfL to recommend that people should abandon any attempt to travel by Jubilee or Central Line. Instead we get a fraudulent suggestion that "people keep bringing up" the closing of Westfield. I'm not aware of anyone citing it apart from myself. Then we have a pointless counter question. This is followed by an irrelevant Tfl apologia: that they had already planned to use the West Ham/Greenway escape route. So what? people who wanted to travel by Jubilee or Central Line had by default chosen not to go via West Ham, and being suddenly obliged to use a different route involving walking quite some way does not constitute zero impact. And if TfL knew in advance that Stratford Station would not be able cope, why had they not done something about it when rebuilding the station during the preceding years? Finally we have a completely irrelevant paragraph about buses at Stratford Station even though TfL had not recommended that people travel by bus as an alternative to the Jubilee or Central Line. |

Can Blunderground go for the hat-trick and win Olympic gold in the synchronised team incompetance? I guess you've been saving "London Blunderground" up for this - you must No, I've used it here before. Google. Well done you! be gutted that all you've got is a couple of minor incidents that really had zero impact on people getting to the games? Zero impact? Yeah , right. If you think closing the main tube line to the olympics has zero impact then why not shut it completely and save some money? Moron. Not the "main tube line", merely one of MANY lines. Jubilee, National Rail from Liverpool St, North London Line, Lea Valley Line, Javelin, and a couple of DLR lines, with back up support from District, H&C and C2C. They could have closed 3 lines and it probably wouldn't have caused any great problem because THEY THOUGHT ABOUT THIS IN ADVANCE. A couple of hours between 7 and 9 on Friday morning without the Central Line will have prevented nobody from getting to the games on time. Like I say, you must be GUTTED that the whole thing has been such a massive success. And it's refreshing that you're still here acting the prick when most cynics ahead of time are admitting they were completely wide of the mark. (I'm sure you still believe you're right too, but of course you're the one that's right, and everybody else is wrong) |

So what magic have they weaved that means 3 closed lines would make no difference to the throughput of passengers to stratford? Do tell because if they could use the same magic during a normal rush hour it would solve all their problems! Central line, jubilee line, district line goes down - no problem! Just ask Meistro Petrov and he'll tell you how to get the same number of people around london with 3 lines out of action. Tell me, do you really believe the bull**** you write or do you work for TfLs marketing dept? Like I say, you must be GUTTED that the whole thing has been such a massive success. Its still cost 10 billion quid for a 2 weeks sports meet either way. Oh yeah, thats worth every penny isn't it. I mean if Paris had won there's no chance of there being the same wall to wall coverage on TV with the same number of gold medals won by Team GB is there ... oh wait.... B2003 |

And despite all the anti-TfL ranting in this thread, this was not in any way caused by TfL. Who then please was responsible for the decision and for it being communicated so late? I find the frequent claim of lateness of notice odd. I knew for at least the week before that it was going to be closed, and I know that it was publicised before that. Tim (tm) |

I find the frequent claim of lateness of notice odd. I knew for at
least the week before that it was going to be closed, and I know that it was publicised before that. Where did you learn so soon of the closure please? I ask as various reports in the mainstream press I saw referred to 24 hours' notice; retailers in Westfield were also quoted in trade journals as saying they had found out only on Thursday 2 August; and John Lewis didn't warn me I'd not be able to collect from them that weekend when I bought online at the start of the week for collection in the Westfield store. -- Robin reply to address is (meant to be) valid |

Just as an aside, why didn't you get Waitrose or Ocado to deliver? |
