And only inbound in the morning peak and outbound in the evening peak. Eventually TfL should withdraw services north of Moor Park. They are clearly clueless with regard to the needs of suburban passengers. Ideally the Chiltern Route to Aylesbury should be electrified at 25kV. Chiltern would take over all Metropolitan services north of Moor Park. What about service out to Chesham? |

It is hardly a typical rapid transit line. S8 stock is not what the customer needs or wants. A four car suburban AC electric service to Marylebone would be perfectly acceptable. |

In the longer term Chiltern's Aylesbury route should be extended to Milton Keynes thru Granborough Rd, and Birmingham Snow Hill thru Verney Junction and Banbury. *That might take a tad more vision than currently found in Westminster and Whitehall. Is it possible to have a line dual-electrified with 25 kV overhead and LU 4th rail? *As the DC electrification is essentially independent of the running lines (unlike Southern style 3rd rail), it should avoid both earth-bonding concerns and track circuit issues that normally prevent dual electrification from being viable. Yes, but with immunization etc. But why bother just to run S8s to Amersham and Chesham. Let's return to a real suburban service like the Metropolitan Railway intended. |
