A new geographic take on the Tube map
I came across an interesting semi-geographic version of the LU map, which
comes in various flavours, this one highlighting the relatively few stations with step-free access (by omitting the others): http://london-tubemap.com/step-free_access.php |

How much distortion of scale would be acceptable on such a map? Possibly the most useful feature is the walking links, but they only seem to be shown where there is no direct link by train, and do not include for example Euston - King's Cross. It's usually quicker and easier to walk this than to go by train. These links are really only useful if they're clearly signed at both stations. Some years ago I used to do Northwick Park - Kenton quite frequently and there were no signs at the time, though some were provided later. Also no signs at Shadwell when the DLR first opened, though again, they were fitted later. I think South Tottenham and Seven Sisters have had signs for a very long time. Things do seem to be getting better. |

Despite the slightly selective geographic-ness. For example it has some wiggles in the Central east of Chancery Lane, but not the Circle east of Farringdon. -- Roland Perry |
