I've been to London for business meetings and told myself that I'd be back
to see London for myself. (rather than flying one day and out the next) I've used the tube briefly and my questions a 1) how accessible is London by bus + tube? 2) how expensive are taxis? 3) how expensive are the buses? Thanks, Stuart |

1) how accessible is London by bus + tube? In general very good. 2) how expensive are taxis? I don't tend to use them, so I'm not sure. I'd say they were expensive, but others may disagree. 3) how expensive are the buses? £1 per single journey, or get a Travelcard for about a fiver (off peak) which gives you all public transport for a day. Or a bus travelcard, which gives you all bus journeys for the day, for 2.50. The bus is better than the tube for tourists, because you get to see the bits of town you ride through, too! (it's worse, because it's slower for long journeys) -- You dont have to be illiterate to use the Internet, but it help's. |

I took a big load of new computer equipment home to Burnt Oak on a Saturday for £25, from Evesham Computers in Central London. Did a mile and a half in the snow last night *extremely* slowly, which was £10 (very decent cab driver though, didn't want to be paid but I insisted) IKEA quoted £25 for a cab to take me + purchase home (4.5 miles). Thought 'stuff this', went to adjacent Tesco (Brent Park) & got a minicab for £8. -- Helen D. Vecht: Edgware. |
