NR-tube interchange at Finsbury Park

Weekends only. More walking, but fewer stairs. Can be done step-free, but as you say quite a long walk. -- Roland Perry |

Anyone know please just what's involved in changing from tube to NR at Finsbiury Park during the works there? TfL site has "the ONLY way to interchange between National Rail and Tube platforms will be to exit via Station Place and re-enter the station." An able-bodied but somewhat unfit friend is travelling to tomorrow and asked me if this involves *lots* of steps or just a tedious plod. She fails to recognise that my ignorance of station interchanges is nigh-on immaculate - as with most everything else :( Is an Oyster Card-trip from KX to Finsbury Park, with a transfer to the Victoria Line for Tottenham Hale one or two trips, BTW? I haven't been to Finsbury Park for a while, so I can't remember if you need to tap in or out when transferring between NR and LUL. |

As an aside Greater Anglia now have a gateline in operation at
Tottenham Hale which means everyone has to schlep out of the LU ticket hall into the cold and rain and then through the new GA gateline. The former covered connection has been closed off. Ahem, it's not always cold and raining at Tottenham Hale; it just feels like it is ;) -- Robin reply to address is (meant to be) valid |

Of course, for that particular journey, it would be better to join the Victoria Line at KX. |

Oh, FFS! Why can't they put barriers on the interchange link too? Possibly just an interim step to mitigate the congestion in the ticket hall pending the major works planned to make the ticket hall bigger etc etc [1]? I only use the station occasionally, and outside rush hours, but have been hit (sic) even then by the awful crossflow caused by the 2 sets of gates. [1] There was summat in the free London papers and Google finds for me http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/medi...tro/29279.aspx -- Robin reply to address is (meant to be) valid |

FCC put ticket gates on their platforms Some of them. The new platform 1 and 2 (used by most local stopping services heading towards Moorgate and King's Cross don't have barriers for some reason. 5 and 6 also don't have barriers but very few trains use them. |
