SWT have reminded me

From the 12 January 2015, South West Trains passengers will be unable to
interchange at Waterloo East for London Bridge as services will not be
stopping at London Bridge. This is expected to continue until August 2016.

How do I travel to London Bridge?

Your ticket will be accepted on London Underground Jubilee Line services
from London Waterloo – London Bridge only. Please be aware that this will
make the Jubilee line busier than usual.

Your ticket will also be valid on bus services 381 and RV1 on the section of
route between London Bridge (stop S) and Waterloo (Stop P). Magnetic paper
point�to�point tickets on TfL bus services which will need to be shown to
the driver

Systems such as Oyster and ticket barriers will be programmed to allow
eligible passengers to use their existing National Rail, Oyster and
Contactless tickets/products to pass through barriers on the TfL network.

London Bridge is only 1.3 miles from London Waterloo and is on average 30
minute walk. Details on walking routes can be found using the TfL Journey
Planner

Season Ticket Holders

If you hold a ticket to ‘London Terminals’ that is not due for renewal
before January 2015 and you wish to travel to London Bridge then you will
need to visit any South West Trains ticket office and exchange your current
ticket before 1 January 2015. This will enable you to use London Underground
Jubilee line services between London Waterloo and London Bridge.

Boy, the already heavily loaded Jubilee is going to be more than crush
loaded between Waterloo and London Bridge!

London Bridge is only 1.3 miles from London Waterloo and is on

On a point of detail, 30 minutes seemed a bit long for 1.3 miles so I
checked the TfL JP. It gives 25 minutes for average walking speed.
Ditto Google maps. I can't see why SWT rounded up or assumed a slower
speed.

Well it will be for about a fortnight and then people will readjust
their journeys to avoid having to wait 30 minutes to get on a train to
go two stops.

The whole London Bridge thing will be an utter mess for a few weeks
until people optimise their journey patterns. Let's hope the weather
is not too horrendous given the fragility of some of SE's
infrastructure.

Weather will also affect the number of people who decide to walk!

(apart from armies of on-train ticket inspectors) would stop someone using
the Northern Line via a change at Kennington (or even Euston!) instead?

I haven't been that way for a while, but Waterloo East is always very busy.

Southern services would divert to Victoria, not Waterloo. Thameslink to
Elephant & Castle or Blackfriars is also an option. ISTR there was a
proposal to divert some SE trains services to Waterloo International but
that obviously hasn't happened.

There are bits of SWT where there is a choice, but there is a lot more that
doesn't. An excample would be someone I know who used to commute from
Wokingham to Greenwich with changes at Waterloo and London Bridge.

Nothing, unless you are gripped on the way and even then it's unlikely to be
noticed.

Would an inspector care provided you were still in Zone 1 ?
