Facebook have been telling me all day it's the first day of Summer,

year, although Spring may be over on the rearranged day of
the Queen's Speech (now 18th May)

If you think that's bad it was 18 late leaving London Bridge on he way back
and 47 late at Brighton.

Assuming the train crew turn up, from what I read.

I thought the mysterious DOO flu was only affecting SN, not TL crew?

I was at Gatwick yesterday and both services seemed to be similarly
afflicted.

What was bizarre was when the 18:33 Thameslink service finally staggered
into view it was Southern stock which kept entirely silent all the way
to London Bridge leaving me pondering what it really was and where I was
going to end up (the platform indicators at Gatwick seemed a little
indecisive to say the least)

DOO might be fine for upto half a dozen coaches, but given the huge
numbers that can be stuffed on 12 coach train and the difficultly of a
driver, even with CCTV, being able to monitor 36? doors and that the
'second man' is doing other duties, why not have him controlling doors?
Presumably if he isn't a guard they can pay them less?
How much extra money does the company make if the second man isn't a guard?
