It's people coming down that seem to automatically collapse the handle because the case is often on the step behind them and therefore at a higher level. -- Graeme Wall This account not read. |

I wish people would carry the case a couple of steps forward before stopping to put it down - then those of us behind could walk around them. Anna Noyd-Dryver |

Graeme Wall remarked: On escalator's I find the biggest problem is people stopping to extending the handle of the suitcase as they get off. Guilty m'lud. Why not just leave it extended as you go up ????? It's people coming down that seem to automatically collapse the handle because the case is often on the step behind them and therefore at a higher level. Also, it's commonplace for escalators not to cover the entire vertical rise, so carrying the case up a few stairs at either the bottom or the top means the passenger has already lowered the handle before getting on the escalator. -- Roland Perry |

Guilty m'lud. Why not just leave it extended as you go up That works! Not so going down. Put the suitcase on the tread behind you and drag it off the escalator, then. Really, creating a situation in which the person following you off the escalator could crash into you because you've come to a stop isn't good form. |

I always put the case in front of me for that very reason. |
