Near Epping, what is "Bank of England?" A new contract has confirmed sterling banknotes will carry on being printed in Epping Forest for the next 10 years. De La Rue, the world’s largest commercial banknote printer, today announced that the contract will see the notes printed at the Bank of England facility in Langston Road, Debden, until 2025. On September 8, the Bank announced that De La Rue, who have printed the banknotes in Debden since 2003, had been identified as the ‘preferred bidder’ for the banknote printing contract, which was finalised today. What else are they printing, by the way? |

The Debden site is owned by the BoE, so it probably only makes BoE notes. De La Rue has other banknote printing factories for other countries' notes. http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/bus..._demand_rises/ https://www.theguardian.com/business...ue-to-cut-jobs |

De La Rue also prints notes for many foreign countries, but it's not clear whether of their three sites the one at Debden is exclusively printing UK ones. -- Roland Perry |
