Isn't that entrance going to become an unmanned emergency exit
only, once the TL platforms shut?

So, in an emergency, out of the frying pan...

?

The immediate vicinity of KX Thameslink is less than salubrious, so
any passengers exiting a future closed KX Thameslink in the event
of an emergency would not find themselves in an area of London
village mentioned in the tourist guidebooks.

Yes, I'm sure people emerging from an emergency evacuation would be ever
so distressed at not being able to see a Starbucks.

I meant once KXTL is closed and StP MR is open. If that ticket office is
closed then I imagine a member of (LU) staff will be still be required
to man the gates - which would probably lead to restricted opening hours
for that entrance.

When have you heard KXTL will close?

Camden Council say it is due to close in 2007. Presumably they mean it
will close when Midland Road opens - also due in 2007.

If that is the case, why did LU bother to make it a full time access,
changing lots of signs, a few years ago. I assumed that they
identified a need for a separate station for local users -
particularly when all the rebuilding work in the area is finished.

Curious that Camden should say that. Isn't KXTL in Islington?

Not quite. The boundary runs down York Way, then along Pentonville Road
and Kings Cross Road. So KXTL is in Camden but the other side of
Pentonville Road is in Islington.

Because to use it, you have to have a ticket to go through the Picadilly
gate at KGX.

Well a sign like: "Kings Cross ThamesLink (Ticket Holders Only)" would have
been good, which would save a horrible walk down a crowded road where you
have to wait forever for the Crossing to change to green
