Canary Wharf Jubilee Line Station - eastern exits
Just thought some of you lot might be interested to know that on Monday
at 1pm they're finally opening the 2 eastern exits at Canary Wharf Jubilee line station. That's only 4 years after the rest of the line was opened! Although, to be fair to them, I suspect the wait was more to do with the fact that until a few months ago there wasn't really anything at that end of Canary Wharf to make it worth while opening these exits rather than them taking 4 years to install an escalator or something... |

Will anyone be there to mark the opening? Well, If Little Chef have someone to mark their extension that allows room for 5 more tables, you'd think LU would :p -- To reply direct, remove NOSPAM and replace with railwaysonline For Railway Information, News & Photos check out the Award Winning Railways Online at http://www.railways-online.co.uk |

I wish they would hurry up and complete the Bow Water park, or whatever it is called, and open the other exit at Canning Town station - *far* more convenient, that would be! -- Annabel Smyth http://www.amsmyth.demon.co.uk/index.html Website updated 8 March 2004 |

When I went on one of the tours of the station at the time of its opening they estimated three to five years before the East end opened, so they were just about right. You are correct, the reason given was that it would not open until completion of the development of the area. It does seem strange that it was fully fitted-out, even to the extent of having telephones fitted, I seem to remember. |
