Your best option are One Day Travelcards.
You can use them from 09:30 Monday to Friday and any time weekends. They come as zones 1-2, 1-4, 1-6. best for you is 1-4 costing £4.70. If you are arriving and departing from London Heathrow, get a 1-6 zone card £5.40 (unless you are only doing one journey). You don't say who you have contacted already. Have you tried: Groundline GmbH Landstraßer Hauptstaße 71/1/331 A-1030 Vienna Telephone (+43) 1 713 4550 Facsimile (+43) 1 713 4550-50 Email: They can issue Visitor Travelcards for zones 1- 6 from 2 - 7 days. http://www.londontransport.co.uk/tfl...avelcard.shtml If this doesn't work, there is no problem buying Travelcards when you get to London (but you can't buy Visitor Travelcards when you get here!). You will need One day Travelcards (much cheaper than a 7 day card for your stay). You can buy them from Tube station ticket offices, most Ticket Stops*, London Travel Information Centres and National Rail stations. Also available (not always the full range) from self-service ticket machines at Tube stations. * Ticket stops are small shops, such as newsagents, which also sell a range of tickets. Usually found near bus stops - look for distinctive yellow advertising on the window. One day Travelcards for zones 1-4 cost £4.70 if you don't need to travel before 0930 on the 6th & 7th (valid all day Saturday.) They will cost you £7.30 on Thursday and Friday if you want to start using them before 0930. http://www.londontransport.co.uk/tfl...ards-day.shtml You can buy your cards for the following day in advance - you might be able to buy all three at the same time if you ask. I hope you find this useful. Enjoy tour stay in London! Terry |

Visitor Travelcards cannot be bought in London - overseas visitors have to purchase them in their own country. -- Paul Terry |

Roman, click on the following link as this gives lots of info concerning visitor travelcards. There is info on prices and overseas agents including one in Vienna which should be handy for you. http://www.transportforlondon.gov.uk...rd.shtml#where There is also a link to some sightseeing information. If you cannot get a Visitor Travelcard then simply buy a One Day Travelcard at any Tube Station or from Ticket Stops for each day you wish to travel. You will find lots of info on the Transport for London website www.transportforlondon.gov.uk -- Paul C Admits to working for London Underground! |

This is very true, but are they so much cheaper than an ordinary Zones 1-4 ODTC? VTCs are either 2-zone or 6-zone and are for 3, 4 or 7 days. Whether or not there is much difference in price depends on exchange rates and on what price the overseas agent is asking. The first example I found on Google was a 3-day 2-zone VTC for 23 US dollars. That's 12.97 UKP, compared with 15.90 if you bought three ODTCs in London - plus the VTC comes with vouchers for reduced admission charges at various attractions. So, there's a small saving to be had. -- Paul Terry |

Apologies for posting this again but, due a lousy bit of cut-and-pasting on my part, the original post may only appear to have the Vienna address (at the top - in splendid isolation!) and the bulk of the message can easily be overlooked - judging from subseqent posts, this has already happened!
