... AIUI, one proposed Crossrail branch runs to terminate at Ebbsfleet CTRL station, where platforms for interchange with Eurostar etc. are available *if required*. Thus, subject to Crossrail's signalling and power-supply constraints etc., Eurostars could in principle have access to Heathrow via Crossrail without extra trackwork (ISTR that a TGV has at least once run on the RER A tracks through Chatelet in central Paris). But the obvious route to Heathrow for Eurostars from the Continent (and vv) would indeed be via the North London line (once the short gap in 25 kV catenary in Acton is remedied). BTW, AFAIK the tracks intended for through EMU running between St Pancras and Gravesend, Chatham etc. *will not* have platforms at Ebbsfleet. I'm pretty sure they do actually. See: http://www.ctrl.co.uk/photos/galleryimage.asp?ID=4594 (big picture) The link tracks you refer to have an island platform shown as "Ebbsfleet high level platform". I don't know where Crossrail plan to put their terminus though. Angus |
