With respect, I was clearly being sarcastic, and why is my comment any
more stupid than that of the original poster who opined that
Routemasters should be abolished because a few mindless individuals
happen to alight them without checking to see if a cyclist is about
to run into them?

Unfortunately it's more than "a few mindless individuals". Quite a lot of
people jump on and off Routemasters without even thinking that they're
crossing a functioning piece of road in the process.

Personally, I have never experienced someone jumping off a Routemaster coming
to grief, but I have often seen (and personally been the victim of) premature
door-closing by negligent bus drivers! I regard that as a greater risk - at
least to myself anyway!

Marc.
